Have you been unusually active, talkative, confident, elated, energetic, impulsive (such as spending lots of money) and being full of ideas?
You may be suffering from bipolar disorder.
Bipolar in a nutshell:
Hyperactivity and severe personality changes known as hypermania (severe mania) and hypomania (a slightly milder form of mania) - bipolar one and two respectively.
Terrible lows - a profound sense of depression, sadness, worthlessness, anxiety, hopelessness, guilt and recurring intrusive thoughts.
Bipolar one sufferers tend to lose contact with reality during mania, whilst bipolar two sufferers spend most of their time in depression and have less serious mania, but its still enough to seriously disrupt their lives.
What causes bipolar?
Bipolar may occur after periods of great stress in your life. It is also genetic. I 'unlocked' bipolar when I became stressed doing my dissertation at university. I was desperately ill. Being put on anti-depressants triggered my first mania. I became so ill I started hearing voices and believing things which were not true, known as psychosis - a symptom of hypermania.
Bipolar sufferers really have pulled the short straw..
