Photography - get into Instagram

I became very interested in photography at the age of 12 after my dad bought me an Olympus OM10 SLR camera. There was no digital in those days like today. You had 30 shots so you couldn’t snap away or be trigger happy. In 2010 I bought myself a digital camera - a Canon 500D and in 2018 I bought a Nikon 750D. They were expensive but worth it (visit www.mpb.com for second hand cameras). If you can’t afford a digital SLR I really recommend buying an automatic or simply using your mobile phone camera. Mobile phones can be excellent quality, especially with close ups. I have an IPhone 15 Plus which takes pretty good photos.

Here are three photos that were taken using my Nikon:

Taking up photography can really help you distract yourself if you’re not feeling well mentally. It can be something to really become interested in and focused on. You can try and get into www.instagram.com which is one of the most popular photography / video websites in the world. This can be interesting and can hold your attention. You can get lots of followers.

You can go out taking photos with your new friends. It doesn’t matter what camera / mobile phone you have, you can still take excellent shots.

There are a few photo editing programs:

Paint.net (easy – Windows only – free) - recommended)

Snapseed (easy - free - highly recommended)

Photoshop Express (easy - £29.49 a year - recommended)

Adobe Lightroom (inapp purchases – difficult )

Gimp (free – difficult - windows only))

Google Photos (easy – free)

Instagram (easy – free)

I hope you find this article useful. Happy snapping!

Take care
