I have spent a lot of my time in and out of psychiatric hospitals. In 2021 I was deemed well enough to move to a supportive living place (essentially a care home) for three years. Unfortunately I was suffering from acute panic attacks, occurring at least every three days. I would hear voices and be terrified. I have had panic attacks in the doctor’s surgery, swimming pool, local Coop shop, and countless other times in my supported living house. I had terrible anxiety that I might have a panic attack in a public place.
However, since April 2024 I moved into my own accommodation. Freedom at last. It took a lot of support to get me here. I changed my psychiatrist, community psychiatric nurse, social worker and we arranged for two support workers to come in and help me for four hours every day. I also work in a therapeutic garden which helps me focus on recovery.
Everything is great. No panic attacks for nine weeks, the voices are kind…I love life!
Its so wonderful to have my own place and be in touch with my friends again. I haven’t contacted them for seven years due to my severe bipolar. I feel hopeful about the future.
If you’re feeling depressed or manic or have terrible anxiety or psychosis, you will get better. It’s just a blip.
I’ve been through the wars but I am actually very hopeful about the future and you can be too.
I hope my website helps.
